THE WANDERING FOOD SNOB - aka "The Savy Traveler"

I guess it should come as no surprise that I also enjoy traveling. So as a further service to my readers I will be including more info from upcoming (and past trips) regarding not only restaurants but also accommodations. Let me just tell you that I am forever indebted to the creators of Priceline's "Name your own price" feature. I have stayed in hotels that I never would have been able to afford, because of them.
Just to name a few here....
The Marriot Fairfield Inn & Suites off of Michigan Ave in Chicago, on a holiday weekend booked at $50 something dollars a nite! Cab fare can cost you more than that in Chicago.

The Hyatt waterfront in Historic Savannah, for $80 a night when the listed price was $190. If you have ever been to Savannah than you are familiar with this hotel! It it is the huge building at the start of the boardwalk.... crawling distance from all the bars.

The Holiday Inn in Sarasota Florida, a Brand new Beautiful hotel. This was not your standard Holiday Inn, the lobby was breathtaking, with interior accessed rooms! The room was well exceptionally decorated, and it was all way more than I had expected from a location from this chain of hotels. The list price was $190, and I paid $54 - Total.

In short, I have never been dissapointed with a hotel booked through this feature on Priceline. the hotels are not always as "too good to be true" as the ones listed above, but you can always count on a good deal, and a spotless room.

Also noteworthy, although not booked through Priceline (hence the $139 a night, room rate)
The Hampton Inn in Key Largo Florida. Newly purchased and renovated this hotel was very nice, and included not only a FREE breakfast buffet, but also had a Starbucks on premises. Take note that this property used to be called The Manatee Bay Resort, due to the visitors it receives up along the seawall during warmer weather. It was a beautiful hotel, and conveniently located just steps from the John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park.
